Description of the research topic:
The main aim to investigate numerous less studied aspects of microbial communities with the help of in silico simulations. The main questions are the following: How the different cooperator and cheater strains can coexist in these communities? Which host-environment helps and which one inhibits the stable division of labor among strains? Is the host able to maintain the helpful microbiomes with the help of simple screening mechanisms (selective feeding of preferential early invasion for example)? To answer these question we work out spatial agent based models and analyse their behavior numerically.
