FAQs

    • What is PhD Hub?

      PhD Hub matches your research interests with its community of users. It gives you access to thousands of industry-driven research opportunities from universities and non-academic organisations all over Europe.

      Note: Do you want to publish an Open Position/Cooperation Call? Easily do so by using the quick content creation tool at the top right corner when logged in.

    • Create a user account.

      Getting started with PhD Hub is easy!

      Create your account by filling in the registration form at https://archive.phdhub.eu/register/.

      You can create a new account with one of your personal email addresses or with your academic credentials using MyAcademicID.

      Once you are registered, activate your account via the link sent to your email address.

      Pro Tip: Creating your account with valid academic credentials will automatically allow you to publish content on PhD Hub. No further steps are required.

    • Activate your account.

      Your account will be activated once you click on the activation link that has been sent to you by email after completing the registration form. It can take a few minutes to receive the activation email.

      If you have not received the activation email, please check your SPAM folder.

      If you still haven’t received the activation email? Feel free to contact us.

      Note: If you haven’t activated your account within 3 days after its creation, it will be automatically deactivated. You will need to create a new account.

    • Create a local PhD Hub.

      As a Higher Education Institution, you can create a Local Hub in your city.

      Local Hubs have privileged access to different PhD Hub services and activities of the Network, including:

      • Participation in PhD Hub flagship events such as PhD Hub Hackathons and European Innovation Fests;
      • Access to the local hub coordinators’ knowledge community and events;
      • Right to request access to the PhD Hub newsletter with doctoral resources, updates, events and opportunities related to the doctoral field.

      Creating a local PhD Hub allows you to unify your doctoral community and foster closer links with your non-academic partners. It enables you to unlock the full potential of the PhD Hub by creating institutional cooperation with universities and industrial partners across Europe.

      Check out the Get started with PhD Hub guide and contact us to set up your Local Hub.

      Pro Tip: Check who is a member of the PhD Hub Network.

      • Hover the cursor over your profile
      • Click Logout
    • I can’t log in with MyAcademicID.

    • How can I manage notifications?

      Do you want to be notified as soon as a new opportunity in your field is published? Or are you receiving too many email notifications?

      Here’s how you can set your preferences:

      • Log in to your account
      • Hover the cursor over your profile and go to Email Notifications
      • Set your preferences
      • Save Changes
    • I can’t remember my login details.

      If you don’t remember your password, use password reset.

      If you don’t remember your email address or username, go to password reset and enter possible email addresses you own. When you enter the right one, you'll get the message that the password reset email was sent.

      You will receive an email with further instructions on how to reset your password. If you haven’t received any emails, please check your SPAM folder.

    • I can’t reset my password.

      To reset your password, you need access to the email address associated with your PhD Hub user account to open the password reset link we emailed you.

      If you don’t have access to this email address anymore, here are some options:

      • Try to regain access to the email address, if possible;
      • Contact us with the details of your secondary email address linked to your account and we will update it for you;
      • You do not have a secondary email address? Create a new account and start fresh.

      • Save Changes and...

      You’re done!

    • Username and display name.

      Your username is designed to identify you on PhD Hub, so it can’t change. But you don’t need to remember it to log in, just use your email address and password.

      A display name replaces the username where it shows on your profile. This is the actual name people see when they search for you on PhD Hub.

      Pro Tip: It is good practice to complete your profile with accurate information to make it as easy as possible for users to find and connect with you. Use your real name and surname when registering or edit your personal details.

    • How can I manage my personal details?
      • Log in to your account
      • Click on your profile in the top right corner
      • Under My Profile, you can view & edit your personal details or add a profile or cover picture
      • Under Edit, you can modify your personal details
      • Save Changes

      Pro Tip: Wondering what are the best dimensions for your cover picture?  A perfect cover picture should be larger than 1300px wide and 225px tall.

    • How do I close my account?

      You can easily close and permanently delete your account:

      • Log in to your account
      • Hover the cursor over your profile and go to Account Settings
      • Go to Delete Account and follow the procedure

      Note: We cannot retrieve any information from your account once it is deleted. If you wish, you can save your personal data before deleting your account and save it locally on your hard drive. Visit Export Data under your Account Settings.

    • How can I verify my account?

      Here are the different ways you can get a verified account:

      1. If you created your account using MyAcademicID, you are automatically verified;
      2. If you belong to a Local Hub and you created your account with your academic email address, you are automatically verified;
      3. If you belong to a Local Hub and you created your account with a personal email address, your local hub coordinator has to manually authenticate your account. Request a verification through the pop-up;
      4. If you don’t belong to any Local Hub and you can't use MyAcademicID, you can create your Local Hub.

      Note: It can take some time for a local hub coordinator to verify your account. Please be patient. If your verification is still pending after a while, select the Local Hub and contact them directly.

      Pro Tip: We recommend you create an account using MyAcademicID or with your academic email address to quickly be able to create content on PhD Hub.
