Description of the research topic:
The goal of research is to describe and interpret the structural geometry of a rock volume in a selected region of Asia, Africa, or America. Structures may include the imaging of fault pattern, thrust tectonics, nappes, folds, salt tectonic elements, and metamorphism related to deformation. The complied data set serves for the determination of structural evolution and its regional connections. The other potential task is looking for the connection between deformation and sedimentation.
The analysis may incorporate the connection of structures and mineral resources, including the formation, and trapping of hydrocarbons. The methods of the analysis can include field structural observations, measurements, mapping, analysis of seismic reflection profiles, laboratory measurements. The concrete topic should be discussed through the selection of the area.Thesis supervisor: Fodor László
Further requirements: ability to prepare publications in the topic
