European Hack – Thessaloniki, Greece (3 days)

The PhD Hub is an EU funded project under Erasmus+ Key Action 2 – Knowledge Alliance promoting academic and industrial collaboration within a multidisciplinary (STEAM) research framework. It is the single online resource for business-driven research, connecting universities, PhD candidates and businesses at local and European level through an online platform for research and innovation.

As part of the project, 5 PhD students from each of the 4 partner Universities can apply to participate in a three-day Hack with all travel and accommodation covered. The Hack will take place between 19th-22nd January 2020 at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in Greece and will give the students the opportunity to collaborate in international multidisciplinary teams in order to design a solution to a real-world challenge.

Birmingham City University candidates can apply through the BECAS page (link) with a short text (150 words), explaining how they meet the selection criteria and what skillset they can bring.

Eligible candidates should meet the following criteria:

-BCU PhD student, having the approval of their director of studies

-registered on the PhD Hub platform

-passionate about STEAM based research

-culturally adept, able to collaborate at international level

All nominees are required to:

-attend a Webinar briefing session on 18th December 2019

-participate in the PhD Hub Hack in Thessaloniki between 19^th-22^nd January 2020

-share their experience and learnt practices at the Design thinking Workshop taking place in the STEAMhouse on 27th January 2020.

Successful candidates will be notified through email on 14^th December.

Note: Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by PhD Hub project. Selected candidates will be responsible for their Visas, travel documents and additional costs.
